Item: Civil Rights Review
Discussion: A
Civil Rights Review of MSU-ES, MAFES and Alcorn State University
will be conducted by USDA personnel during March 22-26,
2004. Cliff Hampton will be coordinating this activity
for MSU-ES and MAFES.

Agenda
Item: Shared Administrative Computing
Discussion: The
Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) is looking at shared
administrative computing for the states eight institutions
and the Board offices. The Board expects a consolidation
will improve accountability and results in long term cost
efficiency/productivity. Drs. Charles Lee, Shelby Thames,
and Robert Khayat will represent the universities.

Item: Mississippi Partnership for Academic Excellence
ssion:
Mississippi universities have achieved extraordinary gains
in academic quality and national stature, propelled by
strong public commitment, generous support from the private
sector, and creative state and university leadership. Maintaining
this momentum is a critical challenge; therefore, it is
proposed that the Mississippi Legislature establish The
Mississippi Partnership for Academic Excellence. The partnership
will address crucial challenges of the current economic
environment and benefit Mississippians in perpetuity through
program results and secure endowment growth. A copy of
the proposal is available in the dean/director's offices.

Item: Administrative Development Workshop for Recently
Appointed Administrators
Discussion: This
is the administrative workshop that the University of Nebraska
has been hosting for the last 13 years. It is being held
this year from June 7 - 10 in Lincoln, NE and the cost
is $600 per participant.
Action: Dean/directors
should send names of suggested participants to the VP's
office by Tuesday, February 10, 2004.

Item: Honorary Degree Nominations
Discussion: The
Provost is currently accepting nominations for honorary
doctoral degrees to be awarded at the spring commencement
ceremony. Nominations, including supporting materials should
be sent to the Honorary Degree Committee in care of the
Office of the Provost. Any member of the university community
may submit nominations. A list of prior recipients is available
upon request.
Action: Nominations
are due in the Provost's office by Friday, February 13,
2004.

Item: Delta Council Invitee Database
Discussion: The
list is used by Delta Council to invite MSU faculty/staff
to their annual meeting and other functions. Appropriate
changes/additions should be made.
Action: Dean/directors
should return an updated list to the VP's office by Friday,
February 6, 2004.

Item: The Alexander von Humboldt Award
Discussion: Nominations
for this award are now being accepted and are solicited
from animal science, plant sciences, social sciences, soil
and engineering, natural resources and environmental sciences,
food science and nutrition, and the related basic sciences
that support agriculture. Nominations guidelines are available
from the dean/directors.
Action: Nominations
are due to the University of Wisconsin-Madison by April
1, 2004.
