Agenda Item: Capital Improvements, Repair and Renovation, Pre-Planning Requests

Discussion: The committee appointed by the deans/directors compiled input from numerous department/center heads and presented a draft report for review. A total of seven (7) pre-planning requests, eleven (11) capital improvement requests and twelve (12) repair and renovation requests were received. The deans/directors carefully reviewed the list of priorities with particular emphasis being given to the top three priorities in each category. There was a general agreement with the report and priorities given by the group.

Action: In the Repair and Renovations section, there are two requests that the committee will need to re-visit. After agreement is reached on these two requests, the committee will proceed to have the final draft of the material printed and prepared for submission to Institutions of Higher Learning Board and Bureau of Buildings prior to the May 10, 2004 deadline.

Agenda Item: FY2005 State Appropriations

Discussion: At this point we do not know what our state appropriations will be for FY2005. The Legislative Budget Office and Senate recommendations show figures 10-12% below the current year; however, the House figure's shows a much smaller decrease for the new year. Overall, the budget situation is somewhat poor. The final figures should be known within the next ten (10) days to two (2) weeks. The final figures will be shared with DPAC as soon as they become available.

Action: Deans/directors and other university administrators will continue to work to minimize the possibility of reduced state appropriations for FY2005.

Agenda Item: Cell Phones

Discussion: Cell phones continue to be a topic of discussion at the Executive Council, due to the number of cell phones and their extensive use. Discussions both inside and outside the university are being held relative to alternative solutions.

Action: Continue to remind our employees about the appropriate use of cell phones. Misuse/mismanagement in this area can be extremely negative for all.
