Agenda Item: CFR Search

Discussion: Lynn Reinschmiedt, search committee chair, reported that the committee met on September 20 and began the process of completing the PARF, the job description and the job announcement. The next meeting is scheduled for October 4. The committee anticipates beginning the evaluation process shortly after January 1 with a goal of having the new dean hired no later than July 1, 2005.

Agenda Item: Meeting Rotations

Discussion: It has been suggested that the deans/directors meeting be rotated between the Bost Building, the Wise Center, Thompson Hall and Lloyd-Ricks. As a part of the rotation, short tours of facilities/programs might be appropriate. The group was receptive to the idea and it will be implemented in the near future.

Action: None

Agenda Item: Division Visibility Team

Discussion: Drs. McGilberry and Knecht spoke about the possible formation of such a team. There appears to be the need for more awareness and visibility for programs, activities and achievements related to the division. It was suggested that we put together an action team to work with faculty and staff, stakeholders and external groups to create additional awareness about our programs and achievements. Some resources in Ag Communications may need to be directed at this "public relations" effort. While we are doing a good job in this area, some council members suggested such a team would be beneficial.

Action: Membership for the action team was suggested and deans/directors will review and make additional suggestions.
