Item: Game
Day Tent, October 28, 2006
Discussion: The
division will be responsible for setting-up and manning
exhibits, booths, etc. on Saturday, October 28 at one
of the 30’x70’ Junction tents
prior to the MSU-Kentucky football game. All six
units in the division will be involved in this activity. Dr.
Lynn Reinschmiedt is serving as the division’s coordinator/point
of contact for the activity. Interactive exhibits
and activities to make participants aware of division programs
are preferred.
Action: Please
submit thoughts/suggestions to Dr. Lynn Reinschmiedt
as quickly as possible.
Agenda Item: LBO
Hearings
Discussion: The LBO hearings for the separately
budgeted units will be on September 20 in Jackson. Per
IHL’s instructions, Dr. Watson will have four (4)
minutes to present testimony for the four separately budgeted
units and Alcorn State’s Ag Division. Dr. Watson
proposed his statement and asked for comments from the
division council.
Action: Please
submit comments to Dr. Watson’s
office no later than Friday, September 15.

Item: Policies
Discussion: Dr.
Mixon distributed a list of division policies that need
to be reviewed. Based
on a new policy approved recently, if a policy is not reviewed
at least every four (4) years it will be reviewed by the
President’s office. Division Council was in
agreement that some policies on the list for review probably
should be removed from the MSU website and simply handled
and shown as division policy.
Action: Policies
that need to be reviewed in the next two weeks and suggested
changes should be sent to Dr. Mixon

Revenue Figures
Discussion:
Transfers to the General Fund through August are
$30.3 million above the projected amount. For FY06,
transfer to the General Fund were $309 million above the
estimated amount. This trend is positive for us as
we begin the FY08 budget process.
Action: None required
Agenda Item: Ag & Forestry
Facts
Discussion: A card, compiled at the request
of Senator Perry Lee, summarizing several important facts
about MS agriculture and forestry was distributed. The
facts were taken from various USDA, ag economic and forestry
department publications. As data for 2006 is received,
the card will be updated.

Phone Status
Discussion: All
division cell phones have now been removed from the MSU
inventory. No new allowances
will be issued in the foreseeable future, but division
employees who were receiving a phone allowance will continue
to receive it. No reimbursements for cell phone bills
will be made.
