Cost Saving Tips
As most of you know, the current budget situation has
been and continues to be somewhat uncertain. The July 1,
2009 state budget figures for our units were essentially
the same as the July 1, 2008 figures. However, most believe
that the Governor will call for budget cuts in the next
3-4 months just as he did last fall. In preparation for
these possible cuts, we are preparing materials that indicate
where we will reduce expenditures by 5% if a cut of this
size materializes. Reducing expenditures is never easy
but many of you know we have done this before.
With almost 1700 employees in the Division of Agriculture,
Forestry and Veterinary Medicine, we know there are many
good ideas out there that will help us control and, in
fact, reduce costs if that becomes necessary. At the end
of each month we will review your submissions, select the
best submitted, and distribute them Division-wide for emphasis/use
by our people. In the distribution process, you and your
unit will be specifically recognized unless you wish to
remain anonymous.
