Amanda Alford
Office Associate
MSU Extension, Neshoba County
Years in position/Service to MSU: 7 years
Amanda Alford’s career has always been about serving others. After more than two decades in health care, she continues that calling with the Mississippi State University Extension Service in Neshoba County where she works as an office associate.
“Here I can continue helping people through involvement in agriculture and 4-H, it just looks different than health care,” Alford said.
Whether someone walks into the office, sends an email or makes a phone call, Alford’s goal is the same—to make sure every person feels welcomed, respected and supported. She enjoys learning and finding new ways to improve processes to keep the office running smoothly.
“I take pride in my work and ability to continually improve the way I serve the people around me,” Alford said.
A major aspect of her role involves organizing the Neshoba County Fair. Alford arranges and keeps track of countless details and ensures large-scale events and association meetings run seamlessly. While the scale of the work can be demanding, it’s also where her passion shines.
“I grew up with the fair, and now I help organize it, so it feels like I am where I am meant to be,” Alford said.
Her willingness to jump in and serve wherever needed is what sets her apart—whether that’s helping 4-H members with arts and crafts, earning her slingshot certification or stepping into new experiences with enthusiasm.
Outside of work, Alford’s life is grounded in faith, family, hard work and community, which guides everything she sets out to do. She enjoys spending time with her husband, kids and grandkids and is also an avid hunter and dedicated cattle producer.
