Extension Agent I
MSU Extension-Harrison County
Years in position/at MSU: 3
Sharonda Allen is passionate about empowering her community with knowledge and resources that make a difference. As Harrison County’s Family & Consumer Sciences and 4-H Youth Development Agent with the Mississippi State University Extension Service, Allen delivers research-based information on family, health and wellness. Whether she’s hosting workshops, providing ServSafe training, answering questions from the community, or connecting with residents in person, her goal is always the same: helping her community thrive.
A significant part of Allen’s work involves collaborating with the Harrison County Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers (MHV). Together, they focus on strengthening families through education and community involvement.
“The versatility of my job allows me to live up to the MSU brand tagline, ‘taking care of what matters,” Allen said. “I truly believe that is what I’m doing in my role at MSU.”
One of Allen’s favorite memories was attending the MHV State Council meeting. She said the event deepened her appreciation for the significant role volunteers play in driving meaningful impacts across the state.
Allen sees her role as more than just a career—it’s a mission. Her passion for being a “change agent” fuels her dedication to helping others, one person at a time. By sharing valuable information and fostering connections, she helps build a solid foundation for the lives she touches.
“I want to make a positive difference in the lives of others,” she said.
When she’s not serving her community, Allen enjoys cooking and traveling—two activities that reflect her love for bringing people together and exploring new possibilities.
